Apartment Redesign: New Possibilities and Materials
We explain how to redesign an apartment by dividing different spaces and save time, energy, and money
We have selected several interesting and easy-to-implement ideas for those who want change in interior design or simply need to divide rooms without spending a large part of the budget, a long time, and nerves.
We explain why you should consider modern and versatile partitions made from KNAUF gypsum board sheets instead of traditional materials such as brick or blocks.
What is a KNAUF Gypsum Board Partition?
In short, it's an easily erected structure made from sheet materials. A reliable, modern, high-quality, and durable solution for interior planning.
For living spaces and maximum comfort, choose double-layered:

Bedroom
Idea 1: Separate the bedroom area
If you have a studio or spacious bedroom that you want to make cozier, you can define the bedroom zone using a gypsum board partition. The structure can be any shape. You can build a partition up to the ceiling, make a low wall or even design a box where the bed will be placed.
Two-layered KNAUF gypsum board partitions are ideal: they're easy to install, highly reliable, including for hanging appliances, furniture, and heavy mirrors. Also, sound-insulating materials can be placed inside such a partition, which is especially important for bedrooms.

Idea 2: Create a walk-in closet
A walk-in closet next to the bedroom is a popular and functional solution. If space allows, you can simply allocate part of the room for the walk-in closet. It's not necessary to build a wall, for example from brick or blocks. With a gypsum board partition, everything will be faster and easier.
The simplest option is to build a small partition and decorate the entrance to the walk-in closet with curtains. However, you can also design a full separate room with a door opening. In this case, KNAUF systems allow fitting sliding doors, which is important for saving space. Everything depends on your goals and available area.

Kitchen
Idea 1: Create a dining area
If you want to separate the cooking zone from the dining area, build a light partition between them. It's better if it’s more symbolic— a solid wall with a door will interfere with setting the table and communicating with guests during cooking, and also visually reduce the space.

Idea 2: Separate the kitchen from the living room
Combined kitchen-living room is a favorite layout for many, but usually we want to logically and visually separate these zones. In this case, a gypsum board partition is the best solution.

By the way, if you have an unconventional layout or want to add variety to your interior, look into curved structures—these are also easy to create using gypsum board.

Bathroom
Idea: Create a partition for the shower area
Of course, you can go with the standard approach and use brick or gas concrete blocks, but installing them will take a lot of time and effort and leave behind mountains of waste. KNAUF boards are moisture-resistant and perfectly suitable for this task—they contain additives that reduce water absorption, they're easy to install and prepare for tile finishing. Additional protection is provided by waterproofing, which can simply be applied to the gypsum board cladding.

Hallway
Idea: Create a foyer area
Do you have a studio and want to separate the common space from the entrance zone, reduce noise levels, and minimize dust?
You can mount a wall and create a foyer. In this case, you need to consider sound and heat insulation for this wall. KNAUF boards are an excellent solution: they retain warmth, and sound insulation can be mounted inside the structure. You can hang mirrors, coat racks, or even heavier items like shelves on such a wall—this just requires double-layered cladding on both sides of the partition and proper fixing.
