Mistakes during interior planning can lead to additional expenses, prolong the renovation period, or make the setup less comfortable. We explain how to avoid them and what you shouldn't do.

Too few outlets

Only two outlets for the entire kitchen? A working scheme only if you don't use any household appliances like an electric kettle, coffee maker, or blender.

First, count all the electrical appliances you will use regularly: from a kettle to a multicooker. Add outlets for occasional use like a blender or juicer. Also, plan a spot for charging your phone: it may come in handy during cooking, and the battery tends to run low.

Installing a built-in oven near the window

And especially hanging sheer curtains! This is not only inconvenient but also fire hazardous: synthetic fabrics easily melt when touching hot surfaces.

How to do it correctly

Place another row of cabinets between the built-in oven and the window — the problem will resolve itself. Hang roller or Roman shades on the window — it's both practical and stylish.

Ignoring the projecting window sill

Or the radiator. Forgetting about these can cause problems where one of the cabinets, drawers, or even the entire refrigerator won't open. The door will bump into the sill or radiator. That’s uncomfortable, isn’t it?

How to do it correctly

There are several solutions: you can make the sill level with the wall, add a false panel between the wall and the cabinet with the width of the projecting part of the sill or radiator, or reduce the depth of the cabinet itself.
