How to Quickly Wash Windows After Winter?

This page is also available in the following languages:🇷🇺🇺🇦🇫🇷🇩🇪🇪🇸🇵🇱🇨🇳
All you need is an extra hour of time and a bit of patience. Everything else is in our article.

It may seem like washing windows takes forever, but it's not really the case. You just need to prepare everything in advance and follow this simple instruction.

What do you need?

  • sponge or brush with a long handle;
  • two buckets: one with regular water and one with a soapy solution;
  • clean cloth (microfiber);
  • a large towel or fabric to cover the floor.

When is the best time to wash windows?

Early in the morning or closer to evening, when the sun isn't shining directly into the glass. With bright sunlight, you won't see all spots, and water on the glass will dry quickly. So overcast days are the best time for cleaning.

How to Wash Windows Correctly?

Prepare the Cleaning Solution

There are many window cleaning products available, but the most trusted one is still a soapy solution. Instead of soap, you can add one teaspoon of dishwashing detergent or white vinegar to the bucket of water.

Before starting to wash the windows, cover the floor with a cloth or towel to protect it from drips.

Dry the Frames and Glass

For small windows, you can use a regular sponge: dip it into the bucket with soapy solution, then wring it out and wipe first the frame, then the window, not forgetting the corners.

For cleaning large windows, use a brush with a long handle. If it squeaks during washing, add more soap to the water. Be sure to rinse the glass with clean water at the end of the cleaning: cleaning agents can damage the sealant material.

How to Speed Up the Process? Choose one direction of movement, for example, from top to bottom. Circular motions leave streaks.

Dry the Glass

Window cleaning brushes come with a special rubber squeegee that helps dry the glass. Place it in the top-left corner of the window and move strictly vertically down to the bottom edge of the frame.

Then dry it thoroughly and continue, each time placing the squeegee so that its left edge slightly overlaps with the already cleaned area. At the end, dry all streaks on the glass and windowsill with microfiber: it absorbs moisture well.

How to Speed Up the Process? When the rubber squeegee starts to fade, replace it with a new one: this way you'll get rid of streaks on the glass and finish faster.

Don't Forget About Mosquito Nets

They should be washed separately, preferably in the bathroom. To remove dust, rinse the entire net with a shower of water, and spots can be wiped off using a brush with stiff bristles and the same soapy solution. You can dry the net with a microfiber cloth.

What About the Outside of the Window?

Stained glass is more prone to dirt outdoors. If you need to remove stubborn spots, apply the cleaning product directly onto the sponge and wipe it.

How to Speed Up the Process? Moisten the problem area with vinegar from a spray bottle, leave for five minutes, and then wipe with a cloth.
