Antitrends: 5 Things to Avoid in Your Interior
Our tips for those who are planning a renovation or want to ensure their interior is still up-to-date
A renovated apartment should delight its owners for years, not just a year or two. However, to keep the renovation relevant, it's better to avoid outdated or rapidly outdated design elements. What exactly? We asked our expert from Letto Interior studio.

White tile like a boar
Especially when arranged in a checkerboard pattern. On one hand, this is a minimalist solution that is timeless and outside of trends. However, such tiles were used too often, so much so that they have begun to bore people.
If such solutions still make your heart beat faster, consider colored rectangles or tiles with a non-smooth surface. A very interesting look is achieved with vertical layout, tree-like arrangement or even rows — a cheap and practical solution can come alive with new colors.
Design: Anna LeonthievaClassic paintings
Nature studies, landscapes, especially replicas, make even the most stylish interior outdated. If paintings are dear to your heart, do not use frames and classical frames. Much better results come from contrast: for traditional paintings choose minimalist frames or hang them without frames at all, and for modern posters — classic frames.
Design: Huge StudioThree-strip laminate
Today there is a wide variety of laminate that, at a democratic price, does not fall short in quality compared to engineered wood. But to avoid the laminate revealing itself too quickly or aging rapidly, it is better to avoid three-strip options. Also pay attention to textured (not painted) edges — this small detail creates the right effect.

We recommend taking note!
Red wood tones
Wood tone plays a big role. Light and dark veneer are still relevant, but red wooden elements instantly remind us of the early 2000s.
Red should be avoided in cabinet facades, doors and floors. Do we really need to say that red wood looks especially outdated when combined with stained glass?
Design: Julia SolohubovaWardrobe with large mirrors
Yes, those very wardrobes with a large mirror and aluminum handle profile. Of course, on a small area sliding doors are the only correct solution. But even in this case, look for modern alternatives.
Minimalist facades with hidden mechanisms, glass doors on metal frames, and hinged wardrobes divided into many sections — there are many excellent and stylish options on the market.
