How to Turn Your Dacha into the Perfect Relaxation Spot: Lots of Beautiful Ideas
Useful tips for any taste and budget
Every dacha owner has their own ways to involve family in rural life. In this regard, a gazebo with a barbecue area and a lawn with a volleyball net are obviously the best motivators, more so than just the prospect of weeding carrot and cabbage beds.
If your dacha is only about garden beds and you realize that’s clearly not enough, we’ll tell you how to transform the plot into an attractive lounge area.
What can you organize?
Some like to gather with loved ones at a summer kitchen, others can’t imagine dacha leisure without active games, and for others it’s important to set up a well-visible and safe children's corner.
Once you've determined the likely forms of recreation, think about what suitable facilities can complement the plot. We’ll tell you about the most popular options.
Gazebo with Summer KitchenTo gather at the dacha for barbecues with maximum comfort, consider setting up a substantial, spacious gazebo made of natural stone or brick that includes several functional zones: a stationary grill, a barbecue, a small oven or fireplace, and a relaxation area with outdoor furniture.

If a temporary solution works, you can place outdoor furniture and dining area anywhere on the plot.
One of the most convenient options is on a veranda or terrace: no need to walk far during table setting and serving dishes, and if the weather turns bad, you can easily take blankets and cushions inside.
Benches, loungers, and tables invite to relax even at some distance from the house, for example, under a picturesque tree or pergola. Sometimes furniture is placed directly on the grass, but it’s more comfortable to build a platform (usually made from terrace boards) and add a canopy.
Relaxation Spot Near a Pool or Pond
This is usually a terrace with loungers, a small table, and a couple of chairs, plus a portable canopy for shade. Choose a spot near the water body away from trees and shrubs to avoid spending too much time cleaning leaves out of the water.
Rocking Chairs or Hammocks
If you don’t want to deal with installing a permanent model, get a mobile one: a hanging chair or a ready-made structure with a suspended bench. They're easy to move from one spot on the plot to another.

Area Near an Open Fire
You can set up a durable option with a decorative hearth and surrounding area clad in natural stone, or use portable: an outdoor fire pit or a portable fireplace.
In the first case, the open fire area is placed at a distance from the house and any fabric canopies. The fire pit or portable fireplace can be placed anywhere, even on a terrace.

Sports Area
For active games with a ball, it's best to allocate space in the backyard if there’s enough room. A high net should be mounted on the fence to prevent the ball from accidentally flying into a neighbor’s plot.
PinterestChildren's Playground or Cabin
Younger kids will enjoy a corner with a sandbox and a wigwam, while older preschoolers and younger schoolchildren will appreciate a playhouse and an outdoor sports complex with a horizontal bar, rings, and swings.
You can also enhance the children's area with topiary figures made of artificial grass in the form of animals or fairy tale characters, or create “green sofas” from compacted soil and rolled turf. Place cushions on these “sofas” — and the children's relaxation spot is ready.
PinterestHow to Plan a Relaxation Zone Yourself?
Mark out the contours of intended zones on the ground using a watering hose and mentally test each one. Are they appropriately sized and shaped? Is it convenient to approach them? Is there enough shade or, on the contrary, sunlight? Where will outdoor lights be placed, where furniture, where living hedges?
PinterestAlso, don’t forget to clarify the requirements for object placement relative to each other and the minimum distance from them to a neighbor’s plot. Clarifying ergonomic and legal details, transfer the layout to a drawing, then compile a plan of upcoming work.
