How to Declutter Your Wardrobe in One Day
The simplest guide to unpacking your wardrobe
We share useful tips that will help you organize storage for your clothes in just one day.
Sort Your Clothes
The most effective way to sort clothes is to divide them into four groups:
- keep all clothes you wear frequently;
- throw away all damaged items and those that won't be useful to anyone;
- give away or sell clothes in good condition that you no longer need;
- think about. These are items you're not ready to part with yet, but may give away later. Make sure to write down the approximate date and name of the person who might use them, and store them safely.
Get Rid of the Extra
Clear out space and get rid of everything you've decided to discard, give away, or sell.
Organize by Purpose
All remaining clothes you use often should be sorted by function. Usually, this includes: undergarments, loungewear and sportswear, outfits for outings or work, outerwear, off-season clothes, and accessories.

Arrange Thoughtfully
Frequently used items should always be within easy reach, don't keep them far away. Everything else can go on upper shelves.
Organize clothing storage like this:
- at the bottom — shoes, on top — off-season clothes, textiles, and guest bedding, clothes in the 'think about' category, and oversized children's clothes;
- shelves and hangers — clothes worn in the current season;
- items of the same category in one place;
- hang clothes by length, from shortest to tallest: first dresses, skirts, pants, then t-shirts, shirts, sweaters, cardigans;
- within each category, arrange clothes by fabric density and color. Or vice versa, depending on what you wear most often.
Store Properly
We recommend folding all clothes on shelves and in drawers, then placing them in containers or boxes. You can see how to fold clothes more clearly in this video.
Label Everything
We recommend labeling all containers, especially if you store clothes for all family members together. For example, 'sweaters – Irina', 't-shirts – Oleg'. You can also assign each family member their own shelf and label it. The most important thing is to always put things back where they belong.
