How to Transform a Dacha Plot Cheaply: 7 Ideas
For their implementation, a lot of time and effort may be needed — but not money
Making a suburban plot atmospheric and picturesque is an achievable task even for dacha owners with a modest budget. We've collected seven working solutions to make this better.
Strengthen Zone Division
A clear, graphic division into zones adds visual order, making the dacha space look well-thought-out and neat.
Boundaries of rest zones, garden, vegetable patch, children's corner and other areas can be placed at different heights, separated by low shrubs or enhanced with edging.

Add Symmetry
This trick makes the plot more attractive and visually more expensive. Here are two simple ways to implement it: place large flower pots with flowers symmetrically on both sides of the entrance to the house and plant identical shrubs in pairs along the main garden path.

Divide Capital Beds
Planting beds in large containers with sequentially layered nutrient-rich soil components look more finished than those made from regular soil.
We also suggest planning them symmetrically to each other — in this way, the plot will resemble an English regular garden a bit.

Update Garden Paths
The most economical options are gravel or crushed stone fillings, or those paved with sidewalk tiles. But before starting the work, check the logistics of movement around the plot: maybe that needs improvement too.
Bring the Lawn to Perfect Condition
A beautiful lawn requires constant care: prepare to water it twice a week, mow regularly, fertilize and remove weeds, and overseed the bare patches with seeds every spring.
However, these efforts pay off many times over, as lush, perfectly even grass improves the appearance of even the most modest plot.

If you didn’t have time for the lawn in spring, you can resort to an express variant: roll lawn. You can walk on it just two weeks after installation. Of course, rolled lawn costs more than traditional seeded.

Include Climbing Plants in Landscape Design
A fence, pergola or part of the dacha house covered with low-maintenance grape or more demanding but very effective glycine, jasmine or climbing roses will make the plot picturesque and mysterious.
Keep in mind that climbing plants require regular pruning or they may take over the entire plot.

Repaint the Dacha House
Also the fence, gazebo and other structures: several fresh coats of paint is a fast and inexpensive way to improve the appearance of the dacha. Here are nine ready color scheme ideas. More in our inspiring photo collection.
