Reconfiguration in a Khrushchyovka: How It Was Done?
A two-room apartment can easily turn into a trashy layout. We explain how this is possible, using one project as an example.
Recently we told about the interior of a trashy apartment based on the In My Box design studio project, and today we'll go into more detail about the reconfiguration. The house where this apartment is located is a Khrushchyovka experimental series. The rooms there are quite spacious, but the kitchen and bathroom remain tight. Designers came up with a way to increase the number of rooms in the apartment and create a comfortable and functional interior. We tell you the details.

Reduced the Living Room
To set aside another room in the apartment, designers had to sacrifice some space from the living room. However, since there was more than enough space, the interior did not suffer and became even cozier.
By the way, to prevent the room from looking cramped, they separated the living room from the entrance hall with a transparent mesh partition. Visually it divides the space, but doesn't create a feeling of enclosed area.
Set Up a Study
After reducing the living room, an additional small room appeared in the apartment. It's only 9.5 square meters, so there's not much room to move around, but that’s why they set up a small office nook here.
Separated the Kitchen from the Living Room
Since gas was installed in the kitchen, it couldn't be merged with the living room. Designers installed a sliding glass partition — when open, it creates an impression of a unified space.
Installed a Wardrobe in the Bedroom
The bedroom area is nearly 18 square meters. That was more than enough to accommodate a double bed and a small wardrobe in the shape of a cube. All main clothing was placed here (since there's not much room in the entrance hall, only one wardrobe).
On the outside of the cube, they installed a makeup table and hung a mirror with lighting.
