Fairy Tale Apartment on a Roof in Sweden
Malmö is the warmest city in Sweden, and who would have thought: here there are four beaches. Right next to one of them is located this two-room apartment. Designers, inspired by the proximity to the beach, decided to make the apartment softly blue and use daylight to the maximum.

Mansard apartments always look great due to their slanted forms, but to make these forms harmonious, one must be careful with color. Roofs don't like dark colors and large patterns that visually reduce space. But making the apartment completely white wasn't desired either. In the end, for the living room (which is also the kitchen), bone-white color was chosen for the walls, and in the bedroom, they were made white-blue. The floor is covered with light parquet boards throughout.

The kitchen, living room, and dining area are combined. The standout feature here is the sky-blue cabinet. Glossy countertops and an island reflect and highlight the blue kitchen.

The kitchen is separated from the dining area and living room by gray metal beams — a good way to zone the space. The wooden dining table complements the bright sisal rug. An open balcony fills the room with light and sea breeze.

To avoid making the slanted walls feel heavy, low furniture was placed underneath — armchairs, mini dressers and shelves, benches and sofa sets. This is a general rule for decorating mansard apartments.

The same color palette continues in the bedrooms as in the kitchen-living room: gray textiles, white-blue walls, and light wood. The main bedroom is divided into two functional zones: a workspace and a sleeping area. These zones are clearly separated by a ceiling beam. The children's bedroom is a good example of how to arrange furniture in a mansard apartment so it doesn't take up space.

The bathroom is small and modest, but it has everything needed.
