If you can't find the perfect bathroom vanity table, make it yourself! It's easier than it seems :)

Erin and Rich Kelley are creative people and bloggers. On their website, they explained how to transform a regular IKEA shelf into a stylish bathroom vanity table. Save this idea — it's simple, fast, and requires no extra costs.

What you'll need:

  • IKEA EKBY ALEX shelf;
  • H8 brackets (6 pcs);
  • Wooden table legs (70 cm long);
  • Leg attachments — make sure they come in the set (2 pcs);
  • Wood stain or wood finish (Minwax Wood Finish);
  • Paint and primer (spray type) in wall color tone.

Additional items:

  • A round mirror with a wooden frame;
  • An accessory tray;
  • A wooden stool or bench;
  • A decorative pillow;
  • Goat hide (LUDDE IKEA) or artificial alternative.

To make the brackets less noticeable on the wall, paint them in a similar tone. The easiest way is to use primer and spray paint. Let them dry.

Staining the legs

While the brackets are drying, stain the table legs. Wood stain will make the wood color richer and protect it from aging.

The shelf comes with an assembly instruction, so you can easily do it yourself.

Erin and Rich chose brackets that can hold up to 22 kg. First, attach them to the wall and mark where you need to drill holes with a pencil.

Drill holes in the wall using a drill or impact driver (the latter is better for harder surfaces like concrete walls).

Hammer dowels into the holes, then secure the brackets with screws. You can now hang the shelf.

Attach leg brackets to the bottom of the shelf, then screw in the table legs. Done!

Adding decoration

Now comes the fun part: hang a mirror, place a stool, and decorate the space.
