10 Terrifying Buildings That Instill Fear
Last year we shared with you a collection of abandoned houses that give goosebumps. But there are still so many amazing mystical places in the world that we wanted to tell you about! That's why for Halloween we prepared a new collection of mysterious abandoned buildings.
Russia
A mystical sphere the size of a five-story building is located in Tver Oblast, near Dubna. According to the official version, this unusual object was being transported by airplane in the 1980s, but the sphere fell from the cables and crashed into the forest. The exact purpose of this structure is unknown, so it's no wonder that legends began to form about the sphere. The most popular legend, of course, is that the sphere has extraterrestrial origins.

On the Caspian Sea stands a majestic abandoned complex — the eighth workshop of the Dagdiesel factory. Originally built in 1939 for testing naval weapons, it was decommissioned from the factory's records in 1966. Now it stands in open sea, resembling an ancient monster.

Norway
The psychiatric clinic 'Lier Sykehus' has a dark past that matches the classic tropes of horror films: experiments were once conducted on patients there. For unknown reasons, four hospital blocks were abandoned, while the rest of the building continues to function today.

United States
Nestled by Lake Seneca in New York State is a creepy abandoned cottage. Notably, a grim cemetery of equally dark old cars has formed near the ominous house.

The castle on the island of Pollepel once served as a storage facility where wealthy trader Frank Bannerman kept his weapons. However, due to a fire in 1969, the building was severely damaged, and the state government decided not to spend money on its restoration.

North Korea
The Ryugang Hotel in Pyongyang was prophesied to have a grand future, had it been completed on time. According to the 1987 plan, the building was supposed to become the world's tallest hotel at a height of 330 meters. Construction lasted more than 20 years, after which it was decided to put at least part of it into operation. But that has not happened yet.

Belgium
The beautiful castle 'Miranda', built in 1886, is uninhabited due to disagreements between local authorities and the heirs of its former owner.

In the city of Mons stands a majestic structure — a cooling tower for water at an electric power plant. The tower has not been in operation since 2007, and during that time its cavity has grown over with moss and ferns, giving the tower a unique mysterious appearance.

United Kingdom
The forts 'Mansella', resembling elephants from Dalí's painting, were built during World War II. These structures protected the United Kingdom from German troops.

Colombia
Finally — a chilling story about a haunted abandoned hotel named 'Salto'. The hotel was located opposite a picturesque waterfall called Tekwending, which translates to 'open door'. The indigenous people believe this place serves as a guide to the spiritual world. Several years after its opening, the hotel had to be closed due to increasing cases of visitor suicides. Over time, the building became covered with ominous rumors about ghosts that permanently reside in the hotel.
