Graphic and Cozy Interior of a Loft in Stockholm
The trend for interiors full of colors and intense contrasts seems to have finally pushed aside weightless white interiors. However, they haven't vanished forever: now Scandinavian designers interpret minimalist monochrome colors more deeply and diversely, as in the interior of this loft in Stockholm.

An apartment of 76 square meters is about one-third occupied by the living room, combined with the kitchen. The rest consists of two bedrooms. One of them is styled by Swedish real estate agency BOSTHLM as a child's bedroom, while the other, where the layout provides for a wardrobe, is organized as the owners' room.

As a finishing material, paint was chosen as usual, painting almost all walls in various shades of gray, from light to dense graphite. To prevent the gray interior from looking boring, dark surfaces were actively used in decoration — glossy, chalky or decorated with decorative plaster, as in the kitchen area.

Another 'side effect' of gray interiors is the visual feeling of coldness — stylists eliminated this with 'warm' fabrics. Knitted, woolen, linen and cotton textures add coziness to any interior — regardless of their color.

Each room was deliberately made as complex stylistically to achieve a multi-layered look. This resulted in open shelves and niches, where beautiful accessories were arranged, black-and-white framed pictures, and varied lighting.

Yet one exception to the gray tones was the open balcony. The furniture, textiles and decor were enriched with colorful plants and warm glowing lights, making the balcony appear terracotta. Thus, monochrome interiors are particularly great for easily introducing any color.
