Designers usually take on any project gladly, but sometimes working with a client is simply impossible. We asked professionals about the most popular reasons for rejection.

You've decided to do a designer-led renovation and even picked a specialist. Before signing a contract, take a look at why designers sometimes reject a project. Never repeat others' mistakes.

You Don't Trust the Designer

"Sometimes a designer feels like they're in a boxing ring," says designer Rina Antonova. "If the client gives examples of other designers' work or images from the Internet for every suggestion, it means they don't trust the specialist. Especially when they ask to copy another designer's project entirely."">

You Don't Know What You Want

"It's impossible to work without a clear budget and technical specification," shares designer Olga Chernenko. "Clients are always dissatisfied because they don't know what they want and didn't set a clear task at the beginning. Often clients hide or underestimate their budget several times – which can lead to a complete redo of the project or refusal to work."">

General Director of "Sofia Decor" Company, Alexander Evdokimov, holds a similar opinion: "Sometimes clients frequently change decisions and constantly make changes to the approved design project. In the end, the project loses its original look, and few designers like that."">

You Set an Impossible Task

"Of course, professionals may reject a project due to high workload or personal reasons, but more often it's related to client behavior. Sometimes clients expect a project to be completed in unrealistic timeframes. Or they mistakenly believe that a small budget is enough for the project implementation," shares designer Margarita Rasskazova."">

You Don't Listen to the Expert's Opinion

"Sometimes clients stubbornly stick to outdated approaches and don't listen to professionals," says Alexander Evdokimov, General Director of the architectural and production company "Sofia Decor." "There are now many new finishing materials and multifunctional furniture – and a designer will always suggest a more modern solution."">

Always consider realistic timelines: they must be feasible.

Listen to the designer's recommendations and don't fear new, modern solutions.
