Visiting a Danish Blogger: Cozy House with Winter Garden
Twelve years ago, the family of Luis and Jesper moved from the city to the provincial Hedensted in Central Jutland (Denmark). While searching for housing that would serve as a cozy family nest, the couple stumbled upon a two-story house of 170 square meters with a terrace and winter garden. They fell in love with it at first sight. After a week of contemplation, the couple decided to make the purchase.

The choice was correct: according to Luis, the house is now her favorite place in the world and the only one where she truly relaxes. However, the beauty of the home goes beyond its structure alone. Luis is a photographer and lifestyle blogger, so she decorated her own living space with great care for aesthetics and beauty.

Luis has her own approach to home decoration. The blogger believes that furniture should form the foundation of any interior, and it doesn’t have to be extremely expensive. The furniture basis consists of finds from flea markets, chairs and bookshelves from her grandmother, and classic designs such as Wishbone chairs by Hans Wegner.

Despite Luis’s preference for unique, individual solutions, there is room for the universal IKEA. The kitchen was ordered from the Swedish brand, although the white glossy doors were later painted black. The IKEA sideboard in the living room is a very recent purchase, seamlessly continuing the home’s aesthetic.

While the furniture in Luis’s house rarely changes, the finishing and décor update incredibly often. The soft pink living room walls have already been olive green, white, veneered, or simply left bare with no finish at all—looking very colorful and expressive.

Decorating the home to match seasonal atmospheres is a must in the family’s life. Updating the interior often takes one or two weekends. Luis frequently feels inspired to modernize the house just for the sake of it, using simple tools: rearranging furniture, cozy textiles, posters, or fresh flowers.

Creative renovations also affect common areas. The couple has two daughters growing up, and their rooms on the second floor are another canvas for Luis’s décor ideas. However, they always consult with the girls, and every mini-renovation becomes stylish and fun: after all, children’s ideas are a true treasure trove of creativity and inspiration for new experiments.
