Small Apartment with Smart Storage
Not all two-level apartments can boast of good square footage. For example, this one in Toronto has a total area of only fifty square meters. To outfit the compact space, the owner of the apartment—a designer named Stacy Cohen—had to carefully plan every centimeter.

After buying the apartment, Stacy started renovation, updated the finishings, and adjusted the kitchen—all of which took eight months. For the color palette, the designer chose a black-and-white scheme with natural beige tones and shiny metals. The modest palette was enriched with richness of textures and finishing touches.
Decorative moldings were actively used in wall finishing: according to the designer, this trick helps bring a little French charm into the interior.

But what makes this apartment particularly interesting for study are its storage systems. Almost all of them are built-in, and some are even hard to notice at first glance. For example, in the bedroom, the designer came up with a secret closet by the window: it has no handles and the door seems to continue the wall.
Since Stacy is a big fashion enthusiast, it was important for her to have a spacious walk-in closet. Space for it was found on the second floor, next to the bedroom. The area under the staircase was used by the designer as sliding shoe sections, framed with moldings and adorned with neat round handles.

However, the main trump card of the apartment is a five-meter wall in the living room, equipped with shelves and sections for a wine cabinet, television, and electric fireplace.
Everything most beautiful is stored on open shelves, while items used rarely are placed higher up. Reaching for the desired item is made easy with a mobile ladder on wheels—convenient and aesthetic. It fits perfectly into the overall design approach, which its owner has arranged with great comfort, literally laying everything out on shelves.
