How to Make the Most of 28 Square Meters: A Studio in Sweden
One reason this Stockholm apartment doesn’t feel cramped is thanks to high ceilings — a luxury in older homes, such as this one built in 1880. With 3.2-meter-high ceilings, the 28-square-meter space stretches not only in width but also upwards.

Designers from the real estate agency Brspec, who worked on the studio's interior, took advantage of this feature right away. They organized the kitchen, storage systems in the living room and bedroom under the ceiling, maximizing the height of the rooms. Built-in appliances and minimalist hardware helped seamlessly integrate the kitchen into the living room.

To enhance the effect of the high ceilings, black was chosen for cabinet fronts and kitchen units. The window niches, radiators, and space under the windowsill were painted in the same tone. The door frames, baseboards, and sockets were also painted black for added visual impact.

Now, the white walls highlight bold vertical contrasts. These elements draw the eye upward, emphasizing the height of the ceilings.

However, black and white weren’t the only colors here. With a concrete dining table and minimalist stools, designers added industrial-style elements to the interior. Striped cushions, a pouf used as a TV table, and a soft red-orange artwork added color and inspired thoughts of the East.

Special attention was given to the windows — a heavy and very cozy linen roman blind was added. The window sills were adorned with attractive figurines, lamps, and flower pots. If the display gets old, it can be changed in just a few hours — eclectic interiors suit any decor.
