We tell you how to choose them and what to combine with

A single mirror on the wall is boring! In trend are mirror finishes of walls and furniture panels, complex compositions and elements. Together with the Design and Interior Center "Expostroy on Nakhimovskiy" we tell how else mirrors can be used in interior design.

What are the advantages of mirror surfaces?

In small spaces they are simply indispensable: mirrors reflect light and can visually "spread" the walls of a cramped room and make it brighter.

Large spaces also benefit from mirrors. In niche finishes, screens and portal fashminov they make a spacious room more expressive and festive.

How to choose?
To visually expand a room, mount large mirrors or entire mirror panels on one, maximum two walls. It's important not to place two mirrors directly opposite each other, otherwise discomfort and disorientation in such "mirror world" is guaranteed.
In bathrooms or kitchens, it's better to opt for finishes with individual mirror inserts, such as NATURAL mosaic or Vermetal Tube Ice. This solution makes cleaning delicate mirror surfaces in wet zones easier.

To refresh a room, add accents to the interior — furniture with mirror panels or decor. Remember that the more mirror surfaces used in the finish of an item, the simpler its design should be. You can look for the right balance in a Smoked Mirror & String lamp or Eichholtz Pyramid side table.

What to combine with?
To enhance the mirror effect and make it deeper and more expressive, metals and shiny fabrics help. To balance an interior with many mirrors and not turn it into a glittering New Year's installation, use matte surfaces in wall, floor and ceiling finishes.

What to complement?
The best complement to large mirror surfaces would be small or point details — such as the Pharaoh pendant lamp.
Also don't forget about chairs, figurines and glass or transparent plastic chandeliers, for example, like in the Cerezo suspension.

How not to overdo it?
Do away with heavy, complicated frames: they draw attention and won't fit into every interior.
Instead, use mirrors with light and weightless frames. Good examples are the Cyclops wall mirror or Ateliers C&S Davoy Witch Mirror and Dima decorative mirrors. They can be easily incorporated into any setting, combined with paintings and other decor.

How to care?
Contrary to popular belief, mirrors should not be cleaned with glass cleaning products. Instead, wipe surfaces with a dry soft cloth. About once every two months you can go over them with a cloth dampened in vinegar.
Another 9 ideas on how to use mirrors in interior design
A good alternative to full panel mirror finishing would be a mirror screen......or a panel with mirror elements. Don't know where to place a large mirror? Put it behind the sofa. This will visually extend the relaxation area. Mirrors with coating or decorative wear resemble abstract paintings and won't look intrusive. A quick idea for decorating a girl's room — mirror + furniture with mirror panels + chair made of transparent plastic. A mirror above a fireplace and a niche with a built-in glass panel — classic that will always be relevant. Symmetrical finishes are good in both classic and modern interiors. A mirror above the headboard of a bed is no less impressive than dramatic wallpapers. Place several models of different sizes in picture frames and hang them on one wall — an original "gallery" is ready.
