Bedroom in Scandinavian Style: Tips, Furniture, Decor
We create a great interior with minimal budget
Scandinavian vibe is perfect for those who want to update their bedroom by summer and add light, air, and freshness to the interior. Together with designer Natalie Preobrazhenskaya, we assemble a "delicious" and light look for the bedroom.
Natalie Preobrazhenskaya is an expert in interior design and the head of the studio "Cozy Apartment".
Inspiration: an idea for bedroom decoration
Scandinavian style is very individual and diverse: it has its own "country", "classical" and even "minimalist" styles — everyone will find something for themselves here.
For me, Scandinavian style is primarily a mood: a light airy space, wooden textures, textiles and accessories. I like the light background with summer mint accents on the cover, variety of fabrics and decor, and fresh green plants.
What is Scandinavian style?
- Lightness,
- Nature and simplicity
- Light pastel tones
- and vibrant accents
- Elements made of wood
- and cozy textiles
Starting the project: creating a mood board
To capture the right palette and atmosphere, I suggest starting with creating so-called "mood board" or mood board.
In our inspirational image, beige tones dominate, so I want to introduce a contrasting mint color and a soft yellow tone. We choose light flooring, geometric lighting for accents, and minimalist furniture. Green plants symbolize nature and freshness that are so lacking in the city.

Implementation
You can find building materials, furniture, decor and plants in one place at good prices — in the store 'Leroy Merlin'. So, what do we need?
- Light laminate — an ideal choice for a Scandinavian bedroom.
- Scandinavians love and value nature, so its elements should always be in their home.
- A wicker box can store small items and decorative pillows.
- A soft blanket is a must-have in the bedroom — you just want to wrap yourself in it.
- Add vibrant accents, for example, a yellow pillow with a geometric pattern.
- A mint pendant is another color accent that adds mood to a light bedroom.
- Geometry — a trend that has not left the fashion scene for several years. In Scandinavian mythology, wolves are associated with the sun, so images of these animals are often used in interiors.
- You can arrange accessories on the shelf, add favorite books and place planters with plants.
Budget planning
To estimate the approximate cost of renovation, I took the size of the bedroom 20 square meters.
- Laminate: 20m² × 473 ₽ = 9 460 ₽
- Baseboard: 18 m/lin, 8 pcs. × 378 ₽ = 3 024 ₽
- Box without lid: 2 pcs. × 171 ₽ = 342 ₽
- Sheets: 2 pcs. × 855 ₽ = 1 710 ₽
- Sheer curtains: 2 pcs. × 474 ₽ = 948 ₽
- Plant Dracaena: 1 pc. × 1 027 ₽
- Thick-knit blanket: 1 pc. × 2 181 ₽
- Quilting blanket: 1 pc. × 1 180 ₽
- Decorative pillows: 4 pcs. (fur, turquoise, yellow, gray) 448 + 323 + 323 + 220 = 1 314 ₽
- Poster: 1 pc. × 188 ₽
- Chandelier: 1 pc. × 1 114 ₽
- Pendant: 1 pc. × 1 780 ₽
- Shelf: 1 pc. × 1 948 ₽
Total: 26 216 ₽
Design hacks that will make a Scandinavian bedroom even better
- Due to insufficient sunlight, Scandinavians use candles and lights of various forms and sizes.
- Do not constrain yourself and do not limit yourself to white walls. Do not fear adding more color and shades: light pink, mint or beige look great.
- Use minimal decor elements. Choose predominantly pastel shades.
- When choosing bedding, do not chase bright colors or patterns. Better to stop on geometric patterns or monochrome quality fabric and a deep shade.
- Add at least one piece of furniture from the 50s-60s. This will add individuality to the bedroom.
- And don’t forget about carpets — with silver shimmer, an ombre effect, or thick pile.
Arranging furniture and decor
In the bedroom interior, use minimalist furniture in neutral tones. Accent on geometric black structures, such as a shelf or wall shelves, console table, and lamp.
Accent colors of the pillows on the bed should be different — gray, yellow, turquoise. Scandinavians love to use soft and fur textures in muted tones in interiors. For example, you can select a mint-toned rug that echoes the color of the pendant.
And don’t forget about houseplants — without these bright green accents, no Scandinavian interior is complete.
