Inspiration + quick tips from the pro
Summer is coming soon, and now is the perfect time to update your dacha house and garden. Together with designer Anna Kozlova, we explain how to easily decorate a terrace in a cozy rustic style.

Inspiration: idea for terrace decoration
To create a relaxation area, you don't need much time or investment. The rustic style is characterized by natural materials, live plants, and simplicity in decor. Whether you're decorating a veranda in a countryside house, a small patio on the dacha, or even a balcony-terrace in an urban apartment, the key is to choose furniture, cozy decor, and vibrant accents carefully.
I love the wooden furniture, abundance of textiles, and color accents on the patio cover.
What is the rustic style?
Natural materials and diverse textures
Abundance of vegetation and colorful accents
Natural motifs and handmade decor
Starting the project: creating a mood board
Any design always starts with understanding the atmosphere you want to create. To feel it and define materials and color palette, I use a mood board — the 'mood board'.
In our case, nature itself dictates materials and textures for the project. I choose wood for flooring and furniture, plus textiles in natural tones for accent. My project's feature is decor items in turquoise shades and lush flowers in colorful pots. For the background, living plants are perfect.
Mood board with products from "Leroy Merlin"Moving to implementation
You can find construction materials, garden furniture, and plants in one place at good prices — at the "Leroy Merlin" store. So, what do we need?
With such an umbrella, you won't be afraid of scorching sun or heavy rain. And it's better to weather bad weather together — an umbrella will fit the whole family. For building a patio or finishing the floor of a ready-made veranda, I choose larch terrace boards. The ideal choice for outdoor use.
Garden furniture set — to equip the perfect place for relaxation, having meals with friends, and enjoying life.
Vibrant cushions — a trend that never goes out of style. Agree, the terrace wouldn't be as cozy without this lamp.
Even more coziness! Plus, it's nice to wrap yourself in a blanket on warm summer evenings.
As an accent, I choose a yellow flower pot.
Add freshness and citrus notes?
And flowers that always delight the eye.

Ideas that will add individuality to your garden
Add some handmade decor. It's not complicated, and you'll have a chance to take your mind off household chores and spend a few hours in creative meditation.
Why not use old bowls and plates as bird feeders? Old buckets make great flower pots. A ladder or plant shelf? It's up to you! Another example of how plants can look beautiful not only in pots. Paint old furniture in bright colors. Feel like an artist!
Garden lanterns can be made, for example, from glass jars, light bulbs, or candles.
It's time to arrange furniture and decor
Place the chairs around the table and position them under the umbrella so that the relaxation area offers protection from sun and rain. It's better to place a lounge chair or garden bench and armchairs nearby. By the way, you can use the carpet in different ways, either placing it in the center of a table or arranging the furniture so that it covers two-thirds of the carpet. This visually expands the terrace space and adds coziness.
Now it's time to throw a few pastel-colored throws on the armchairs, turn on the lamp, and surround yourself with plants. Over time, you can add hanging lanterns, chair cushions, and a hammock chair. With such furniture and decor, it's easy to rearrange and add details according to mood. By the way, more plants never hurt — you can turn the terrace into a flower greenhouse.
And remember — there are no rules!
