Who creates Hermès scarves and how

The Hermès house began producing its famous scarves in 1937 (the year of the brand's centenary). The first scarf featured a company of men and women around a card table — it was made on order and called Jeu des Omnibus et Dames Blanches.

Here is how the production looks now.

Since then, the brand has released more than 2000 different artistic designs. Creating a scarf is akin to creating a work of art: from the initial sketch to the final quality check, the process takes about two years. For these scarves, they source silk from China — it is processed in such a way that Hermès products become twice as durable as other scarves. The production is located in Lyon, France. Over the history of the brand, more than 150 masters have worked on the designs. Special attention is paid to color combinations — that's why you can find a scarf that matches the color palette of any interior. Before the final version is approved by a special commission, sometimes more than 50 samples are created. The author of a scarf can be one of the twenty designers from the Hermès team or an invited artist. The Hermès color palette includes 75,000 different shades. It takes up to 250 silkworm cocoons to make one scarf. 4 reasons to use Hermès scarves for decoration

Decorate your interior with them easily

Hermès scarves are somewhat related to batik and modern abstract painting, which is not indifferent to bright color spots. But unlike them, decorating a wall with a silk scarf is much easier.

It's easy to find a match for any interior

The choice of colors is almost unlimited — this means you can easily find a version that suits any interior. As for sizes, there are currently three options: 140x140 cm, 90x90 cm and 45x45 cm — you can choose the format that suits you best.

And almost any budget

The cost of such decoration is entirely up to your discretion — you can decorate a wall with one scarf or several, choose frames that suit your budget.

Hermès scarves can be a good investment

These scarves can become collectible items and a good financial investment — the price of rare editions grows year by year.

How to incorporate scarves into your interior?Frame them

This is how I decorated the bedroom wall in my country house — I placed a framed scarf above the headboard of the bed.

Cost: from 8,000 rubles, depends on the frame price.

Lightbox with built-in lighting

The most gentle option. I like that the lightbox keeps the scarf in perfect condition and also allows replacing it if it gets boring over time.

Cost: from 18,000 rubles.
