How to Make Bathroom Cleaning Easier

It's unlikely you'll turn cleaning into a pleasure, but you can definitely make the process easier

A useful cheat sheet for bathroom design: we explain how to organize storage, choose finishing materials and plumbing fixtures, and save money on cleaning products.

Stay away from textured surfaces

Which surfaces are easiest to keep clean? Obviously, smooth ones — just grab a cloth and wipe. But with textured tiles in natural wood, patterned mosaic, or various decor, it's more complicated. So if you don't want to spend a lot of time cleaning, opt for smooth tiles or washable paint.

Pay attention to floor covering

White tiles (square or hexagon-shaped) in a bathroom look beautiful but aren't practical. First, any dirt will be visible on them: splashes and pet fur. Second, perfectly white grout lines won't stay that way after just a week of renovation. Choose non-marking colors and surfaces.

Install a Rimfree toilet

A Rimfree toilet can greatly simplify bathroom cleaning. For example, the innovative Geberit Rimfree model ensures even rinsing of the entire interior surface of the bowl, which means less dirt and lime scale buildup.

You won't need to use cleaning products with toxic components for cleaning under the toilet rim. Also, the built-in water distribution regulator prevents water splashing, and the dual flush button saves up to 20% on water usage (only 4.5 liters is needed for bowl rinsing).

Water quality in most city apartments leaves much to be desired, so water droplets and streaks on glass partitions will haunt you. You'll have to wipe surfaces after every shower. If you want to avoid this, choose curtains made from moisture-resistant fabric.

Replace open shelves with a cabinet

Open shelves in the bathroom are an extra hassle during cleaning, especially if they hold numerous cosmetic bottles and containers. Instead, mount a shallow cabinet or install a door if the shelves are in a niche.
