Experience
1 : 0 in favor of the experienced designer
An experienced designer won't make a mistake where a beginner would. Universities don't always teach technical aspects of design planning – unless among the faculty there are practitioners with extensive experience in design.
Following Trends
1 : 1 – the score tied
Young designers are more open to new trends and movements, which allows them to create innovative interiors. Experienced professionals often avoid experiments.
Attention to Detail
2 : 2 – still a tie
Every detail in design plays an important role: each item has its specific place, size, and color. A good designer always keeps this in mind, regardless of whether they are a beginner or more experienced.
Cost of Work
2 : 3 in favor of the novice
Another advantage of a beginner is that their work usually costs less than that of more experienced colleagues. However, the quality can meet the highest expectations of the client – provided the designer has received solid professional education.
Number of Projects in Progress
2 : 4 – beginners are ahead
On average, a professional designer with experience leads about 3–4 projects. A beginner may have fewer projects but will approach the work more carefully.
Motivation
2 : 5 – young designers lead
A young specialist is interested in creating a strong portfolio. That’s why they are more motivated to do the project carefully and thoroughly.
Suppliers
3 : 6 – novices win by a wide margin
An experienced designer has a large network of furniture and finishing suppliers, which reduces project costs and time spent. However, young designers spend more time in social media where lesser-known Russian manufacturers often offer their services.
Conclusion: Difference in Tasks
The choice of a designer depends on the task at hand. If you need to design a large space, choose a professional with extensive experience. If the project is for a small apartment, turn to a responsible novice.
