Cabin in Norway with Spacious Terrace
Exploring a strict, minimalist, yet very cozy interior of a cabin in Norwegian Shusse
Its owners are a married couple with a five-year-old daughter who cannot imagine their life without skiing and active recreation. The family looked for a place in the countryside near Oslo, where their main residence is located, and noticed the ski resort Shusse, which is two hours away from home.
The cabin with four bedrooms and a combined kitchen-living area, just like its location, appealed to everyone. Therefore, soon after the purchase, spending weekends in this picturesque place will become a lovely family tradition.

But first, a major renovation (the cabin was delivered new to the owners with a rather damaged roof) and a small reconfiguration, since the country house had to be adapted to the family's lifestyle.
They turned to Norwegian designer Kristin Fiksezunet – a professional in decorating country homes.

First, they moved the entrance door so that one wouldn’t bump into the staircase on the second floor when entering the house, as it was originally designed. Then Kristin suggested enlarging and extending the hallway. To do this, one of the rooms had to be sacrificed, but now it’s easy to move around the first floor with bulky sports gear in hand.
To fill the finished space with daylight and make it look more lively, an additional window was added between the hallway and the kitchen.

In the color scheme, they settled on a calm gray that perfectly complements wooden tones. The gray color doesn’t look cold or lifeless here thanks to the delicate work of the designer with textiles. She dressed the furniture in textured covers, added elegant checks on cushions and linen Roman blinds. Candles, firewood in the fireplace, and large glass lanterns work excellently to create an elusive atmosphere of a mountain cabin.

For relaxed time, not only the interior of the house but also the terrace is used. There is enough space here for gathering friends for barbecues and just enjoying the view of the lake: even the most active people sometimes need quiet rest.
