What to consider to save budget and nerves

Save money and time without compromising the quality of the repair — it's really possible. Andrey Lyamin-Borodin shared how to act and what to pay attention to.

Andrey Lyamin-Borodin, Expert General Director of the online repair service Rewedo. Prepare a budget

Before starting the repair, prepare a budget and stick to it. Any offers — yours or from contractors — evaluate in monetary terms and enter them into the budget. When all figures are on paper, it's easier to stay in control and not exceed planned limits.

Contrary to popular belief, repair by a construction company is not more expensive than repair by a private master. Moreover, in this case, all work comes with a warranty.

A design project is not luxury, but a tool for achieving the desired result. Abandoning it may lead to additional costs and time loss — due to long approvals, guesswork, and rework.

If you don't have time for an individual project, you can look at "boxed" products — they are easily adapted to the size of the apartment.

Consider the layout even when buying an apartment. But if you have to work with what is available, plan your time and money carefully — sometimes it's better not to get involved in re-planning at all.

If no project is needed, only minimal funds will be required — just for BTI documents. If a project is necessary, you'll also have to spend on the project itself and technical conclusion.

Practice shows that the stated document review times are not always realistic — be prepared for longer wait times.

A plan of work where the start and end dates of each stage are written down, along with a material procurement schedule — is the main tool for monitoring the repair from the client's side. You don’t need to understand construction technologies, but you will immediately notice problems if something goes beyond the schedule.

All in the project is calculated to the millimeter. A small adjustment — and everything can go wrong. Someone has to control this — if not the designer, then you yourself. But for that, you need professional knowledge.

Everything included in the project should be ordered right away. First, delivery of many items will take time anyway. Second, the needed model may disappear from sale within a few months of repair. This is especially critical for plumbing and taps, which require specific pipe layouts.

Repairs in winter can be cheaper — the old stereotype that repairs must be done in summer is no longer true, as technology has advanced. Many private craftsmen and construction companies have fewer orders in winter — they're ready to offer good discounts.

However, sometimes repairs during cold weather take longer — due to weather, many processes proceed more slowly.
