Functional Trend: Colorful Doors in Interior Design
Traditionally in our country, door colors were limited to whites and browns. However, in recent years, colorful doors have become increasingly popular. And it's no surprise, as besides the fact that a vibrant door significantly livens up the space, it can also solve a number of interior design tasks.
Correcting Architectural Imperfections
Colorful doors work well in rooms with multiple doors visible from one point, with mismatched door sizes, in narrow and elongated spaces with low or very high ceilings. The purpose of color is to draw attention to itself and divert focus from architectural flaws.
Design: Zi-designIn the St. Petersburg project "Bright Retro in New Construction," Daniil and Anna Shepanovich from Cubiq Studio used vibrant blue doors to visually bring together the end wall and shift attention from the number of doors located nearby to color.

The opposite approach is not to emphasize the door but to make it blend into the wall. By hiding the closet door, designers from Cubiq Studio visually lightened the bedroom wall.

Designers from Soul Concrete masked the doors in the living room and wardrobe doors in the hallway to not disrupt symmetry and the overall finish in modern American style.

This masking technique is especially useful in small spaces, which should not be overloaded with details and color. In a project featuring a small entrance hall, Maria Cherkaсova used exactly this solution.

Preserving the Overall Pattern
Continue the active print from the wall onto the door, as Dasha Ukhlinova did in the project "Tropical Days," and you won't need to find additional ways to make the interior cohesive.

Color is the most powerful tool in creating an interior.
"I love using colorful doors. Color is the most powerful tool in creating an interior. In terms of investment cost to achieved effect, color is the most productive instrument.
A colorful door can be a vibrant accent or, on the contrary, dissolve into the color of furniture and room finishing. In my library project with colored carpentry, the door was made in the color of furniture and wall panels. This solution allowed achieving a wrapping effect and creating a cozy atmosphere in the room."

Colorful doors can become the main character in interior design.
"In my projects, I regularly use doors not only in traditional white but also boldly paint them in any color. They can serve as an accent and the main character in the interior, for example, yellow doors in a neutral gray-white interior.
Doors can blend into colored walls, and together with them — skirting boards and door frames. This visually increases the space and wall height."
