Cozy House in Sweden with Three Bedrooms and a Picturesque Fireplace
In the village of Hindos, a few miles from Gothenburg, stands a two-story house with a total area of 138 square meters and a charming porch and small garden. It was built in the late 1930s and carefully restored in recent times, preserving traces of time in some parts of the interior.
The color scheme of the interior is thoughtfully chosen in natural green and brown tones – the house is located in a forested area among old birches and maples, and the surrounding environment became the starting point for designers when choosing the overall tone of furniture and finishing materials.
The house layout is typical and quite convenient. The living room, kitchen, dining room, and office are located on the first floor. Ascending to the second floor, one can find three bedrooms with convenient storage systems in each of them.
The public and private zones are separated not only by their location on different floors – the designers decided to experiment with contrast in finishing materials on each level of the house. Thus, the walls of the first floor hallway are light-colored, while the staircase and corridor on the second floor are finished in red-brown wood: a dark retro color that invites relaxation and rest.

The overall interior of the house is neutral. The background wallpaper, plaster, and paint do not draw too much attention, allowing the aged elements in the form of a cleared brick wall or vintage furniture to coexist harmoniously with modernity: a kitchen with a stove and chrome exhaust hood, lighting fixtures, and IKEA tables.

The heart of the house, undoubtedly, is the well-preserved log fireplace in the living room. It not only serves as a heating source but also stands out as an aesthetic feature, beautifully enhancing the interior. Even the stack of logs nearby looks like part of the décor. This countryside house is very appealing due to its closeness to nature – both outside and inside.
