From Old Brick to Graffiti: 5 Ideas for Stylish Wall Decoration
Materials with rough textures that emphasize their natural origins are in vogue. They are increasingly used for interior decoration, often on a large scale. While they were once associated with industrial environments, now they are linked to modern stylish interiors.
1. Worn Copper
Natural materials in decoration – an essential requirement set by clients for architect Alexandra Fedorova. In a 250 square meter apartment, there was space for stone, wood, glass, and brick. One of the most impressive moments is the wall behind the TV in the living room, decorated with large-format panels made of worn copper.

In an apartment in Dnepropetrovsk, Ukraine, designed by SVOYA STUDIO, the TV wall features a brick wall. The bricks are vintage, from demolished houses built during the time when Dnepropetrovsk was still called Ekaterinoslav. Over a hundred years, they have turned green and even mossed in some places.

In an apartment located in the resort town of Svetlogorsk, formerly Rauschen, designed by designer Marina Kutzukova, one of the living room walls is decorated in the asecco technique (commonly known as painting on dry plaster) – one of the oldest techniques, with which Leonardo da Vinci unfortunately experimented.

4. Mirrored MosaicIn a two-story apartment in Southwest Moscow, a large "pixel" mirrored wall connects the two levels. As architect Elena Solovyeva, co-founder of Artburo 1/1, puts it, "this wall daily gives the spectacle of a new city," reflecting the panoramic view outside the window.

The striking and memorable image of this interior, created by Denis and Anton Yurov, emerged from the client's passion: he loves Escher’s graphics, Penrose mosaics, and contemporary street graffiti by Alexey Kio.
If you look closely, you can see that the interior draws inspiration from works of these different masters or, conversely, is composed like a puzzle from them. Alexey Kio's graffiti – an abstract composition in blue tones – decorates one of the living room walls.
