How to Make a Gray Interior Interesting: Apartment in Sweden
The gray color is loved by many designers and quite deservedly. It is neutral, pleasant to the eye, has a wide range of shades – from warm to cool, combines well with most colors and fits nicely into almost any style.
On the example of this cozy apartment in the central area of Linnestad in the city of Gothenburg (Sweden), you can clearly see: gray can be uninteresting, stylish, refined – and ready to set the tone for the entire interior, becoming its main highlight.

What is the secret of this Swedish apartment's charm? Undoubtedly, in skillful use of the versatility of gray. Mouse, light gray, asphalt color – shades make the space more interesting and add volume.
Warm gray tones and unobtrusive beige accents balance the cool shades, white color serves as a connecting element, and rare colored accents give the setting a touch of elegance.

The interior is filled with cozy textures that add depth to the space: intentional carelessness of linen, tactile pleasant furniture upholstery, a fur throw blanket, woven baskets, warmth and texture of natural wood... It seems there is no random element in the setting.

The apartment area is quite small: 58 square meters. Thanks to a maximally open layout, the living space visually appears much more spacious. Thoughtful zoning made it possible to accommodate a full kitchen, dining area, relaxation zone, and at the same time set up a separate bedroom and entrance hall.
The walls were painted and wallpapered, but not all the way to the ceiling, which visually lifted the latter. On the other hand, storage systems and kitchen cabinets were built up to the full height of the walls, gaining a lot of space for placing all necessary items.
Scandinavian style was taken as the basis of the interior, but it clearly cannot be denied a certain amount of fusion: simple forms are next to elegant ones, an unobtrusive wood pattern is with refined furniture upholstery, crystal chandeliers are with brass fittings, and a worn-out chest replacing a side table is with a Persian rug.

But most of all, perhaps, what strikes in this interior is its practicality and attention to detail. In the bedroom, there is a clothing ladder, on the kitchen – a mini-ladder for accessing the highest shelves and hooks for utensils, in the shower – shelves in the niche.
Door stops, a woven chest by the bed, hooks for bags at the entrance, a built-out balcony... Agree, living in such an apartment is a pleasure!
