How to Reduce Water Consumption and Save Money: 8 Effective Methods
Are your water bills a concern? It's time to make some changes in your daily routine! We give 8 great tips that will help you significantly reduce water consumption and save money.
1. Install Water Meters
It's high time to install water meters if you haven't done so already. On average, this allows you to cut water supply costs nearly in half. Remember that it's important to sign a contract with the management company for payment based on meter readings, and every 5 years you should remove the meters and send them for testing.
Pay attention: if there is one shut-off valve (and riser), you need to install two meters: one for cold water and one for hot water. If there are two shut-off valves, you'll need to buy four meters.

2. Choose Single-Handle Faucets
An important point: single-handle faucets are more economical than two-valve taps, as they help you quickly adjust the flow temperature. By the way, every time you regulate the valves, a few liters of water leak out uselessly.

3. Use Aeration Features
Take note: modern faucets can save water. Many manufacturers offer models with built-in aeration systems that reduce water consumption by up to 40% (and thus save your money).
If you don't plan to replace the faucet soon, aeration nozzles for the water stream will come in handy. These devices saturate the flowing water with air bubbles, which helps reduce water usage without decreasing pressure.

4. Buy a Dishwasher
Contrary to popular belief, modern dishwashers save both water and electricity (not to mention your effort and time). It's proven that hand-washing dishes uses far more resources.
Have a small kitchen? Then choose a narrow dishwasher. Its width is only 45 cm.

5. Use Special Modes
If you choose a dishwasher with a quick wash or half-load mode, you can save even more. These special features significantly reduce the cycle time of the appliance, saving water and electricity.

6. Turn Off the Tap
If you're not using water, turn off the tap. Strangely enough, this simple tip helps save a lot. Don't let water run unnecessarily while washing vegetables, defrosting food, or other food preparation processes.

7. Reuse Water
Reconsider your household habits. In many cases, water can be used more efficiently. For example, the water you use to rinse fruits and vegetables can later be used to water flowers. Cold water that runs from the tap while waiting for the desired temperature should be collected in a pitcher and used for household purposes.

8. Fix Leaks Promptly
If water is dripping from your tap, you're overpaying by at least 1000 liters per month. Not to mention more serious leaks and malfunctions. Try to fix them promptly: this will save money and prevent more serious consequences (such as flooding).
