How to Create a Perfectly Flat Wall for Painting
Flats on the secondary market and new construction have something in common: for example, uneven walls with many visible defects. Of course, you can paste thick wallpapers with a pattern and forget about the problem, but more delicate materials require careful surface leveling. What materials to choose and in what sequence to perform the work, we explain today.
1. Preparing the Base Surface
First, you need to prepare the base surface and remove substances that weaken adhesion of materials — grease, dust, and dirt. To remove dust, use a vacuum cleaner or ordinary brush.
When working on smooth concrete or monolithic bases, treat the cleaned surface with weber.prim contact bonding primer to create a rough surface. This will help the thick layer of plaster adhere better to the smooth base.

2. Installing Levelling Bolts
Before plastering, you need to set the final plane of leveling — a regular or laser level will come in handy here. Use metal, plastic, or gypsum bolts for this purpose: keep in mind that metal and plastic bolts must be extracted from the wall after the plaster mixture dries.
The main advantage of gilded bolts is that they don't need to be removed after the plaster layer dries — this significantly simplifies the work. You can create such bolts using a 28×80 mm profile and gypsum plaster. Ensure the distance between the bolts is slightly less than the length of the rule being used.

3. Basic Leveling
To hide significant surface irregularities, use plastic gypsum plaster weber.vetonit profi gyps: it can level differences up to 50 mm in one layer (locally — up to 100 mm).
To prepare the mixture, pour the required amount of water into a bucket, sprinkle in the plaster from the bag, and mix the dry mixture with water using a drill with special attachments for 3 minutes. The resulting mixture is suitable for use within 40 minutes.
Plaster easily spreads onto the wall and firmly adheres to various types of mineral surfaces. After applying, smooth it out with a regular two-handed trowel. If you're working on a large area, it's more efficient to apply plaster mechanically — using a mixing pump.

4. Finish Leveling
After the plaster layer has fully dried, you only need to remove minor wall irregularities using finish filler weber.vetonit LR+. When preparing the mixture, follow the instructions on the back of the plaster packaging. The result should be a plastic, homogeneous mass that can be used for 24 hours, or up to 48 hours if stored in a closed bucket.
Apply the filler to the wall manually using a metal spatula or mechanically in thin layers from 1 to 5 mm. Apply each subsequent layer on top of a fully dried previous one: drying time is approximately one day.
After the final layer dries, remove remaining minor irregularities using fine-grit sandpaper, ultra-fine papers with grain size 50-63 microns or less. After that, you can confidently proceed to wallpapering the wall.

5. Super-Finish Leveling
If you decide to paint the walls, super-finish leveling won't be out of place. A ready-made polymer filler weber.vetonit LR pasta will create a perfect base without any graininess. It comes ready-mixed, so it's even more convenient to work with. Thanks to its uniform consistency, the paste easily applies in very thin layers — from 0.2 mm.
After drying, smooth the filler surface with sandpaper and don't forget to dust it off. It's essential to prime the walls before painting: this will reduce wall absorbency, reinforce the surface, and ensure proper paint adhesion.
