To make the atmosphere in your home cozier and your interior more interesting, you don't have to hire a designer or approve a redesign plan. All you need is to follow our universal rules.

Updating your interior yourself can be just as easy as working with a professional designer. It's especially true if you know how to do it right. To avoid mistakes, it's important to strictly follow the color and texture balance, include bright accents, and not be afraid of experiments.

1. Keep Practicality in Mind

A good interior starts with balancing your needs, taste, and budget. For example, pristine white sofas that look great in photos may be quite impractical in real life. Therefore, it's better to rely not only on your taste but also on the specific features of each item. For example, if you love white in interior design, there's no problem — just use more durable and easy-to-clean materials or make a focus on white accessories.

2. Add Color

There are many ways to color your interior — it can be one bold accent, small details, or several items in bright tones. Remember about balance: lay a carpet of your favorite saturated tone on the floor, but keep the rest of the room in neutral tones.

For background colors, gray, milky, light blue, or beige work well. Don't go to extremes: an abundance of black can visually reduce the space, and a totally white interior is very hard to keep clean. Do you love these colors? Simply include a few accessories in that palette in your interior.

3. Work with Textures

Mixing different materials makes the space more interesting and even visually expands it. Include details made from synthetic or natural leather, suedes, plush, velvet, cotton with lace or embroidery. Combine and don't be afraid to experiment: just one rich, luxurious texture on a throw pillow can change the entire look of your space.

4. The Final Touch – Details

An interesting feature of bright details is that even one unusual element in the interior can change the entire mood. A wooden chair or bench, a coffee table with an unusual shape, or a storage cabinet with artistic painting — include at least one unique item to give your interior its own face.
