Cozy Country Cottage with Blue Windows and Attic Library

It's hard to believe that this stylish countryside cottage in Kazimierz (a historic district in Krakow, Poland) was once completely abandoned. What now looks neat and well-maintained had to be hacked through with a knife, clearing the thick vegetation. In the past, a happy couple lived here, but after the death of one spouse, the owner couldn't bear being alone in this place – and the property fell into neglect.

Psychotherapist and writer Katarzyna Miller bought this house and breathed new life into it. Through her efforts, the structure was transformed into a cozy country residence with blue windows and an attic library.

The interior of the house features lots of wood, with natural tones complementing white and blue accents. Vintage furniture and antique accessories found their place, making the space lived-in and highlighting its long history. The new owner of the cottage admits she wanted to decorate the interior as if she had been living there for a long time.

Unexpected elegant touches harmonize beautifully with the overall country ambiance of the interior, adding a certain refined charm. For example, a crystal chandelier adorns the wooden ceiling with beams, an old table is covered with lace tablecloth, and a striped upholstered sofa sits next to elegant classical furniture.

The attic study-library, located in this house, is the owner's favorite spot. Numerous bookshelves, a workspace, and two comfortable armchairs – everything needed for both work and reading or relaxation.

"For forty years I've come here visiting other people's homes, wondering what day I'd find a place for myself," says the owner of the cottage. Well, she’s more than succeeded.
