How to Remove and Store Winter Clothing Until Autumn: 10 Useful Ideas
During warm seasons, winter clothes lose their shape, forcing you to go shopping? Put off shopping and wait for better times: we'll tell you how to extend the life of your favorite items. Tips on compact storage of clothing will save you square meters. All suggested ideas are not only effective but also very budget-friendly.
Idea 1: DIY
Coats can be washed by hand using warm water and gentle soap. After cleaning, do not wring the coat: this can cause deformation. For washing winter jackets, dilute liquid cleaning product in warm water (no higher than 40°C). For removing small stains, brushes and rollers for cleaning clothes are suitable.

Idea 2: Large Wash
When washing a down jacket, place special washing balls in the machine: they prevent down from clumping. If there are no balls, you can use tennis balls or set the washing machine to minimum spin cycles.

Idea 3: Smart Storage
It is best to store coats and jackets in a wardrobe or on a hanger for outerwear. To protect items from moths, place a sachet of lavender or naphthalene in the closet. You can also use a soda packet.

Idea 4: Smart Economy
Why buy storage covers for clothes when you can replace them with linen or cotton towels? Simply secure the towel at the base of the hanger and you can hang clothes in the closet.

Idea 5: Gentle Washing
Sweaters can be washed in the machine on a delicate cycle at 30°C. In this mode, washing is gentler and more careful towards garments, thus extending their lifespan. Additionally, low temperatures prevent fading, protecting you from surprises with dyed items.

Idea 6: Size Matters
If a wool item shrinks during washing, slightly moisten the garment and then iron it through a muslin cloth. During pressing, stretch the fabric to restore its original shape. Ironing should be done from the inside out.

Idea 7: Complete Order
Do not fold wool items too tightly to avoid deformation, and do not store them on hangers: they may stretch. To protect sweaters from moths, use anti-moth spray, naphthalene, or a lavender sachet.

Idea 8: Softer Than Silk
Fluff on your favorite sweater is not a reason to look for a replacement. Especially since it's easier to get rid of than you think. Simply clean the sweater with the rough side of a dish sponge – and no trace of fluff will remain.

Idea 9: Take Height
Storing tall boots can become a real problem: they cannot be folded, and they take up too much space. It's better to hang them on a hanger and store in a closet.
Idea 10: Suitcase Transformer
Winter boots can be stored in a travel suitcase under the bed or sofa. This way, you save a lot of space and don't have to spend much time searching for winter footwear.
