Pro Secrets: How to Make a Bed Like in a Good Hotel
Are you fond of neat blankets and stylish pillow arrangements that greet guests in good hotels? We found out from professionals how to turn an ordinary bedroom into a place you won't want to leave. We're sharing this with you.
What You Need to Make a Bed «By Science»
The «dust skirt» covers the lower mattress, bed legs, and prevents dust from getting underneath. A mattress protector is mandatory between the sheet and the mattress – it protects the surface from stains. The sleeping quilt is familiar to all of us – choose it according to your taste. A decorative coverlet not only gives the bed a neat appearance but also protects it from dust and pet fur. With pillows, it's simple – their quantity and design depend solely on your imagination. You can place a small throw on the coverlet at the foot of the bed – it comes in handy if you want to read a book on the bed during the day.

Options are welcome: How to Actually Place a Decorative Coverlet
In such a delicate matter as making the bed, there are no strict rules – only guidelines. Today you can cover the entire surface with a coverlet, and tomorrow move it to the foot of the bed and add many decorative pillows.

What About Pillows? Check the Size
With too many pillows, it's sometimes hard to see the bed itself. Don't overdo it. Follow the principle: the smaller the furniture, the less decor you need to use.

From Theory to Practice
How Does the Process Actually Look Like?
1. Put the «dust skirt» over the mattress or bed base. Let the hem hang evenly to the floor on all sides.
2. Place a special mattress protector on the mattress.
3. Spread the sheet evenly across the bed so that the edges hang freely. Tuck the top part of the sheet under the mattress.
4. To create neat corners, tuck the bottom edge of the sheet neatly and smoothly under the mattress so that the remaining side hangs vertically down. Then tuck in this side as well.

5. Place a down quilt on top of the sheet. If the quilt is wider or longer than the mattress, depending on the bed's orientation, fold the excess neatly, let it hang off the edge of the bed, or tuck it under the mattress.
6. Now comes the decorative coverlet. Usually, it's taken slightly larger than the bed so that it can be beautifully draped to the floor or folded into the headboard or foot of the bed.
7. Arrange a composition of pillows. Place a beautiful throw on top of the coverlet. Done!
