Week's Room: Mix of Tile Moods in the Bathroom
Modern and classic patterns from ceramic tiles, blended together, literally transformed the bathroom in San Francisco.
Shawn Lo and Karen Co are absolutely in love with the architectural elements of their home's exterior in San Francisco. However, life moves on, and more and more modern details are gradually becoming part of their everyday routine, subtly changing how they perceive the world around them. This naturally influenced their preferences in interior design for their new home.
When it came time to renovate the bathroom in their master bedroom, the family invited renowned interior designer Hazel Cleverland, who was given the main design wishes for the renovation. Shawn and Karen wanted to finish the room in a way that wouldn't drastically alter the overall style of the entire house, but would add a subtle modern touch to their classic interior. At the same time, it was important to create a warm and cozy atmosphere in the bathroom where one would like to relax after busy, event-filled weekdays.

BEFORE: Before the current renovation, the bathroom had angular furniture, a narrow and cramped shower combined with a bathtub, separated by a fabric curtain.

AFTER: To make the room more functional and convenient for daily use, the designer removed the separating wall between the bathtub and shower area, replacing it with a fixed glass curtain. By relocating the toilet to another wall, a small space in front of the mirror was created, giving easy access to any accessories.
