How to Properly Mount a Television on the Wall: 6 Basic Rules
Don't know how to properly hang a television on the wall? It's not complicated if you follow a few rules we'll explain in this article.
1. Where to Place the Television in the Room
The placement of the television is determined by the arrangement of furniture in the room. First, decide from which point or points in the room you will watch it. This could be a sofa, dining table, kitchen work zone, or other options.
An especially important factor in determining the placement of the television should be the window. If the screen is on the opposite wall, there's a high chance it will reflect light and you won't see anything clearly. One solution to this issue can be window blinds or blackout curtains that close tightly.

Consider how often you're willing to close them tightly every time you turn on the TV. For those whose setup is exactly like this, we recommend looking into electric curtain tracks that can be controlled from a remote or tablet. This doesn't cost much, but such an option adds comfort and keeps the curtains looking neat, as they may get dirty faster due to frequent mechanical handling and lose their original appearance.
2. At What Height to Mount the Television
If you plan to watch the television in the kitchen, for example, standing by the stove, stand at the imaginary (or existing) working surface and then quickly shift your gaze to the area of the wall where you plan to mount the television. The spot you looked at (which is likely at eye level or slightly higher/lower) should be remembered and marked carefully, perhaps with chalk on the wall. This is where the center of the monitor should be located.
The height of mounting the television depends on how you intend to watch it. Standards here are quite arbitrary, so nothing beats personal verification.Using the same principle, you can determine a comfortable height for mounting the television on the wall in any room where it is expected to be located.

3. How to Properly Attach the Television to the Wall
If your layout involves mounting the television on the wall, you must first check whether it's technically possible to do so. Remember - a heavy monitor should not be mounted on a gypsum board wall. It can't support more than 30-35 kg and may simply collapse.
On a brick or block wall, the monitor can be mounted using brackets. Ensure in advance that no wiring passes through where the anchors are intended to go.
Brackets come in both fixed and adjustable versions. We recommend choosing a mobile variant in any case. Who knows, maybe you'll need to adjust the tilt or slightly rotate the screen to one side or another.
4. Where to Hide Cables and Wires
If your apartment is currently under renovation, plan ahead and correctly prepare the location for the television and its corresponding outlets. What you'll definitely need is 3 regular sockets behind the monitor and 1 TV socket. You will connect the plasma monitor, tuner, and/or Wi-Fi adapter to these. These outlets can be safely hidden behind the plasma monitor, placing the sockets 8-10 cm from the top or bottom edge of the monitor (depending on what's more convenient in your case).
If a TV stand is placed under the television where other media equipment will be located, having sockets behind it won't hurt either.
Place a 4-5 socket box 30 cm above the floor - even if you don't need them now, technology doesn't stand still, it's better to spend a little extra now and protect yourself from future problems with cables, sockets, and power strips.
If the renovation is already done, all wires can be hidden in a cable conduit and neatly brought to the television. Later, this conduit can be styled to match the wall it's on to mask it as much as possible.
In case the television is placed opposite a window and you've decided to follow the advice about electric curtain tracks, plan one more socket at the ceiling level where such a curtain will hang (specialists in curtains and electricians will explain this more thoroughly).
5. How to Choose the Screen Size
Many TV enthusiasts dream of a large plasma screen covering half the wall. Buying such a television is easy, but before doing so, check whether the dimensions of your room allow watching such a screen without harm to your health.
The comfortable viewing distance for the eyes from the screen is 3-4 screen diagonals for LCD monitors and 2-3 screen diagonals for LCD screens.

Thus, a 40-inch television should be viewed from a distance of 80-120 or 120-160 inches (1 inch equals 2.54 cm). Now, it's easy to calculate that a person watching a 40-inch plasma screen should be at least 3-4 meters away, and for LCD monitors - 2-3 meters.
It's easy to observe in real life that many people ignore this rule, which harms not only their own vision but also that of their loved ones. Don't repeat these mistakes.
