Changing Apartment Design with Textiles: 5 Simple Ways, 25 Bright Examples
Any interior, even the most beautiful, comfortable and meticulously planned, sooner or later becomes annoying. For some time we try to achieve the effect of novelty by rearranging light furniture items. But soon this also becomes tedious. Then we begin to think about a renovation... But renovation is not always the best solution to this problem. There is a much simpler, cheaper and faster way to bring new bright notes into the room design — changing textiles.
Way #1: Furniture Textiles
The color choice for upholstered furniture has a significant impact on the overall perception of the room's color scheme. That is why it is always better to buy soft furniture with completely removable covers — they are easier to wash and it's not difficult to change them for new ones in a different shade. Often, removable covers can be purchased from the company that manufactured your furniture. You may also discover your creative side, use your imagination and sew them yourself.
If the covers on your furniture are not removable, you can contact companies specializing in reupholstering furniture — there are many of them in any city. Carefully study their catalogs and, when consulting with a specialist, find out how much brighter or more saturated the color of the fabric sample may differ from that of the finished upholstery. Make your choice and voilà — in a week or two, you'll have 'new' old soft furniture!

Way #2: Pillows
Vibrant and colorful, striped or checked, plain or solid, embroidered with cross-stitch or running stitch, with appliques or fringe — pillows of various sizes scattered on soft furniture will become both an ornament for the interior and additional seating areas in case of hosting large groups of friends, as well as favorite toys for the youngest members of the family.

Way #3: Curtains and Screens
Curtains not only decorate our windows and protect us from overly bright sunlight in the morning, when we don’t really want to get up. Curtains can also be your main ally in spatial zoning, replacing doors. By the way, for these same purposes you can use purchased or homemade textile screens that can be easily hidden in a wardrobe at other times.

Way #4: Rugs and Mats
This includes not only small rugs near the sofa or in front of a fireplace. Wall hangings are making a comeback. But, naturally, not the fuzzy Persian ones, which are probably still stored in our grandmothers’ homes. Popular are thin wall rugs with ethnic motifs or vibrant geometric patterns, as well as tapestries. Before mounting them on the wall, they can be stretched onto special wooden frames. This will prevent sagging.

Way #5: Knitted Accessories
This season, pay attention to the designers' favorite sofas, armchairs and chairs covered in knitted fabrics with thick knitting. Such items can easily be made at home. If the scale of the work seems daunting, start with a knitted cover for a sofa pillow or a knitted blanket. You can also dress up indoor plants by making covers for their plastic pots. The key is not to get carried away with contrasting stripes; prefer plain yarn in subtle shades instead. It's better to focus on knitting complexity and texture — the more intricate and textured it is, the more beautiful it will look.
