How to Update Living Room Interior on a Tight Budget: 12 Effective Ideas
1. Change the Contents of Shelves
Open shelves and wall-mounted shelves are a great platform for expressing your creativity. Change their contents, display your collection, and experiment: for example, you can try creating a shelf arrangement. You can also hang a painting or photo behind the shelf.

2. Change the Lighting
Different colored shades and other light diffusers, accent lighting, and various types of lamps can significantly change the mood of the room. Don't forget about natural lighting: decide how much sunlight is needed for your living room – will it be bright or romantically dimmed.

3. Rearrange Books
Arrange your books on flat surfaces instead of hiding them in cabinets. Carefully stacked books of different colors and formats attract attention and serve not only as functional but also as original decorative elements. You can also create a mini-library from low stools, stacking them on top of each other and placing books on them.

4. Group Accessories
As an example, consider candles. Several candles of different sizes arranged together look much better than standing alone throughout the room. They can be placed, for example, in glass containers.

5. Repurpose Furniture
A worn-out, shaky chair that's uncomfortable to sit on can find new life as a bedside table, and a tray lying on a flimsy stool can become a coffee table. Be creative!

6. Add Color
The living room can come alive with new colors through just a few vibrant items, even very small ones – colorful cushions on the sofa or a bold accessory can significantly refresh the interior. Choose colors that contrast with the main color scheme of your living room.

7. Expand the Space
Large mirrors can help with this. A winning option is to place a long narrow table opposite the mirror: in this way, the space visually doubles.

8. Striped Furniture
Adhesive tape on fabric can work wonders. Apply several colored stripes in a row to a dresser, and it will look like a completely new piece of interior furniture.

9. Wall Decoration
Remove the paintings and photos that have grown old to your eyes from the walls and hang items dear to your heart in frames. Wall-mounted plates and prints also look great – they can form a whole gallery.

10. Hang Items from the Ceiling
Look at items from a new angle – upside down: try hanging items from the ceiling! Various accessories look great this way. This can also be done inside, for example, on an open shelf of a buffet.

11. Painting
If you are extremely budget-constrained but still want to change the color palette of the room, try painting just one wall or even just the door – this will significantly refresh the living room. Contrast colors look especially good here.

12. DIY
DIY, or "Do It Yourself," is probably the cheapest and most creative way to update your interior. Your imagination is unlimited here, and the number of options is endless: old window treatments can be repainted and mounted on the wall to serve as bookshelves; wall-mounted hangers inside an old bookcase without a back panel can transform it into an open wardrobe; a monochrome lampshade can be wrapped with patterned tape or fabric.
