A bay window, if used wisely, can make your living room cozier, brighter, and add a certain charm. Especially if you have a beautiful view from the window. In that case, you can create a viewing platform in your own home (and with an especially interesting landscape, even with binoculars).

Living Room Design with Bay Window. More Light and Space. A bay window, if used wisely, can make your living room cozier, brighter, and add a certain charm. Especially if you have a beautiful view from the window. In that case, you can create a viewing platform in your own home (and with an especially interesting landscape, even with binoculars). How to properly design a living room with a bay window?

First, you need to plan how you will use the bay window based on its size. If the dimensions allow, it is possible to set up a relaxation area here. A wide windowsill for seating, a small table, and a couple of armchairs or even a sofa - depending on the available space. Reading books in natural light is healthier, and drinking a cup of morning coffee while basking in sunlight is much more pleasant.

If you wish, the bay window area can be completely separated from the rest of the living room. For this purpose, curtains, screens, or lightweight partitions made of gypsum board, as shown in the photo below, can be used.

For those who appreciate proper spatial distribution, a functional solution such as a lounge chair with a mini-library would be ideal.

If the bay window is large and there is a sleeping area in the living room, it can also be designated as a sleeping zone within the bay window. Separated from the rest of the room by curtains, the bay window creates a sense of privacy, and the sleeper will wake up to sunlight.

Design of a Rectangular Living Room. Triumph of Geometric Shapes.

In modern apartments, rectangular-shaped rooms are very common. If your living room has this geometric shape, we will tell you how to make the design of a rectangular living room fresh and attractive.

If the living room adjoins a balcony or loggia, you can slightly expand the room's area. If conditions allow, you may fully remove the dividing wall; otherwise, skylights or arches can help. A separate zone can be created on the balcony/loggia.

There is an opinion that the tradition of arranging furniture along the walls in such a room has become obsolete. In this case, choose furniture on wheels or casters to make it mobile. This way, you can easily change the interior of a rectangular living room periodically to find the most suitable option.

The new fashion trend is to create so-called conversation islands in the room, which will divide the space into zones.

For separating the dining or sleeping zones, closed or open bookshelves (the latter leave more free space but collect more dust) or screens and lightweight partitions can be used.

To visually deepen the room a bit, use photo wallpapers. They can help adjust the proportions of your living room to your desired layout. Modern photo wallpapers are like a door to a fairy tale Narvia, as realistic as the image may appear. An example of using photo wallpapers is shown below.

Don't forget about the important role of light sources. Different light sources (ceiling lamp, wall sconce, spotlights) not only illuminate but also zone your room.
