Design project of a three-room apartment with bedroom on terrace. Most modern full-size apartments have access to a spacious balcony, loggia, or even a summer terrace. These spaces can be used wisely, not turned into clutter storage—instead, it's better to expand the living area of the apartment using them. The design project of a typical three-room apartment was created by Natalia ZelTOUKHOVA, transforming it into an 'atypical' one. Indeed, the apartment was 'given' already with a reconfiguration: owners, deciding to do the renovation themselves, demolished almost all partitions and walls in the apartment, ordered a kitchen using a ready-made design project from the manufacturer, and then got stuck. What to do, how to distribute zones in the apartment, and how to approach the setup of what is essentially a studio apartment they didn’t know.

Looking at the details of the apartment, you might think: 'Wow, 150 m² – impressive!' Don’t jump to conclusions. Before the redesign proposed by the designer, the total area of the apartment was, as in most modern standard buildings – 92 m² (compare: in KOPÉ – from 75 to 109.1 m², and a modest area of a three-room Khrushchev flat, yes, smaller will be – on average, 52-57 m²).

The apartment was enlarged to 150 m² by using the spacious terrace and loggias. After reconfiguration, the terrace, which had previously been unused all winter, autumn and spring, turned into a huge bedroom with panoramic windows and a wonderful view of the city. The small gym was also placed there (see below).

After reconfiguration, two main zones appeared in the apartment: private (bedroom arranged on the former terrace, mini-gym, spacious wardrobe and bathroom) and public (living room with panoramic glazing, dining room, kitchen and hall).

Each room of this enormous three-room (!) apartment has its own highlight.

In the corridor, for example, it’s an art object – a sculpture in human scale, in the dining room – non-standard wall treatment for the TV, in the bright spacious living room – vivid paintings on walls, and even in the bathroom there is a designer accent – geometric panel in the shower cabin.

The ideas used in decorating the interior of this apartment can also be applied to smaller areas: for example, a design project of a three-room apartment P-44T can utilize accentuating bright spots in an adequately modestly finished and furnished room, and even in a KOPÉ flat it wouldn't be out of place to add more colors into the interior.
