Garden District Apartments by Architects Babayants - Minimalist Luxury Apartment in Moscow
Architects Babayants completed the interior of a 2,238 square foot apartment in the Garden District residential complex in Moscow. Recognized for technical precision and deep design philosophy, the project demonstrates the studio's vision of minimalism as an aesthetic and worldview—a pursuit of simplicity, mindfulness, and balance.
Design Philosophy - Minimalism as a Lifestyle
For Architects Babayants, interior design begins with volumes, space and light, not decorative elements. Their approach focuses on creating spaces that evoke self-respect, harmony and comfort, ensuring every detail has meaning.
Minimalism for the studio is not just a style, but modern luxury, rejecting excess in favor of necessity. Behind the visual simplicity of Garden Districts lie complex technical solutions that enhance their sophistication.
Spatial Planning and Panoramic Views
The apartment occupies an entire floor with high ceilings and impressive panoramic views of the sky, lake, and seasonal landscapes. Architects used these qualities by treating the views as true protagonists, keeping the interior light, airy and free of unnecessary details.
Despite sharp angles in the original design, the interior softens geometry, ensuring smooth transitions and functional zones without visual bulk.
Key Interior Features
Entrance and Hallway
Guests are greeted by an integrated marble composition of two symmetrical tables, separated by a central crack and illuminated by Flos lamps. This sets the tone for the refined minimalism of the home.
Living Room and Kitchen
A two-sided sofa holds the space between the TV zone and windows.
The television disappears inside integrated bookshelf doors, forming interesting compositions.
A sculptural marble countertop serves as the kitchen and bar, including a wine fridge and cabinets.
A wide laminated floor (up to 3 meters) and built-in radiators enhance rhythmic proportions.
The main kitchen is hidden behind wooden panels with leather inserts, providing practicality and discretion.
Dining Room and Breakfast Area
The breakfast nook is located in a corner with glazing, ideal for everyday use.
The dining room is equipped with a custom table, matching chairs, and Apparatus pendant lights for formal gatherings.
Color Palette - Natural and Sophisticated Materials
The apartment features vibrant material combinations, including:
Walnut with Venetian finish (9 months of testing to achieve the perfect tone).
Copper and leather integrated into wardrobes.
Salvatori marble for bathrooms.
Wide-laminate flooring.
Custom furniture pieces such as a bookcase with copper shelves, leather drawers and stone podium showcase collaborative craftsmanship of the studio. The contrast between warm and cool textures—wood, leather, stone and metal—adds tactile richness.
Bathrooms - A Contrast Play
Guest bathroom: dark tones with Salvatori marble and innovative accessories, providing a sensory surprise.
Child's bathroom: clean white with sculptural porcelain tiles and a bathtub-pool.
Main bathroom: smooth and textured finishes, copper in chameleon tones, and custom furniture with a design of unity and lightness.
Main Zone and Office
The bedroom zone begins with a symmetrical wardrobe, divided into male and female sections, with empty facades that blend into the wall and central display cases for accessories.
The bedroom is defined by a multi-layered headboard of wood, copper and leather, with discreet lighting from Davide Groppi.
The home office, executed in nickel tones, is fully customized with closed glass inserts that allow natural light from adjacent rooms to filter through.
Technical Perfection
The project demonstrates the high precision of Architects Babayants:
Minimal tolerances (2–3 mm gaps).
Tall cabinets and doors with hidden engineering.
Custom furniture facades created using advanced joining methods.
Ceiling with hidden ducts.
These solutions, though invisible, define the harmony of the project and flawless proportions.
Elegant Framing for Panoramic Living
Garden Districts showcase the ability of Architects Babayants to blend design philosophy, technical expertise and minimalist luxury. Every detail—whether tactile material, a light accent point or a hidden solution—was created to enhance the calm and precision of space, making Moscow's panoramic views the central story.
