Transformable Space for a Global Media Leader

In the headquarters of Anadolu Agency (AA), Turkey's leading international news outlet, BAB Architects completed the creation of a modern broadcasting and event studio named AATOLYE. This project is designed as a space where technology, adaptability, and design intersect. AATOLYE redefines how a single space can be used for various functions—from live broadcasts and podcasts to concerts, seminars, and conferences.

The project was realized with remarkable speed: just two months for design development and five months for construction, demonstrating BAB Architects' precision in creating complex multi-functional environments.

Renovation of an Existing Conference Hall

The studio emerged from the adaptive reuse of a former conference hall on the Anadolu Agency campus. The exterior appearance was preserved, while the interior was completely dismantled to allow for a new configuration.

  • Spatial flexibility: The new layout emphasizes openness, with no permanent walls and using adaptive infrastructure.

  • Functional structure: Broadcasting studios, green rooms, podcast rooms, and director control rooms are integrated into the main space, while the open hall can be used for large events, panels, or presentations.

  • Geometric reconfiguration: The design team used the room's height and structural openings to create a functional yet aesthetically cohesive space.

Engineering Versatility

A standout feature of AATOLYE is its transformable infrastructure. BAB Architects designed the studio as an atelier, capable of changing to meet needs without losing form or functionality.

  • Movable platforms: Hidden within the floor, they can rise or lower depending on program requirements, smoothly transforming space from conference seating to a concert stage.

  • Mechatronic systems: Broadcasting tables can be aligned with the floor or raised for live broadcasts, ensuring maximum functionality.

  • Comprehensive electrical system: Future-oriented systems support advanced broadcasting technologies and large-scale lighting and sound setups.

This integration of architecture and technology ensures that AATOLYE remains relevant to the evolving needs of media.

A Hub for Creativity and Communication

More than just a studio, AATOLYE was created as a cultural-media hub. Its versatility allows Anadolu Agency to host events such as AA Talks, workshops, and live performances, making the space a symbol of innovation and adaptability.

By balancing mathematical precision in planning with the emotional impact of design, BAB Architects achieved a rare combination: a space that is both technically rigorous and emotionally engaging.

With AATOLYE, BAB Architects created a new-generation space for media, embodying Anadolu Agency's global ambitions. By combining broadcast design, event infrastructure, and spatial flexibility, the project sets a standard for multi-functional cultural architecture in Turkey.

AATOLYE is more than a studio—it's a stage for ideas, performances, and storytelling, adaptable to the constantly changing needs of media and culture.
