The most striking elements in Scandinavian design are the fireplace or a freestanding stove. Unfortunately, installing such features in modern apartments is nearly impossible, but don’t forget to include this functional element on your country house. A stove adds both warmth and beauty to bedrooms and living rooms. A stylish heating source is typically placed in a corner for neatness, yet it can still become the focal point of the entire interior.

The key feature of furniture in Scandinavian interiors is functionality. There’s a constant effort to maximize light and space, so every piece serves multiple purposes. Light and practical furniture is painted white or in pale tones. Often, it’s simply treated with varnish or stain to preserve the natural wood look.
