What you need?
  • Old books with sewn pages (glued ones won't do!),
  • scissors,
  • mandarins if you want thin stars, oranges — if thicker,
  • a metal star-shaped form for cutting out cookies.
How to use this?

Remove the covers from books and cut them into parts

One Christmas tree requires about 60 pages from a book. To get trees of various sizes from one book, some parts can be trimmed in height or width.

Open a part of the book and fold one page in half to form a triangle

With the edge facing inward, as shown in the photo.

Fold it in half again

Don't forget to iron well at the folds.

Trim the corner that protrudes beyond the lower edge of the book

Facing inward and upward, as in the photo.

Flip the completed page and do the same with the rest

The Christmas tree is ready! Now let's move on to stars made from peels.

But first, clean mandarins or oranges or peel them with a knife.

Dry them

If you want a garland, before drying, carefully thread the stars onto a string tip-to-tip.
