Ultra-modern Gazebo Pavilion 2071 by Za Bor Architects in Suburbs
Ultra-modern Gazebo Pavilion 2071 by Za Bor Architects in Suburbs
The 60-square-meter Gazebo Pavilion 2071, designed by Za Bor Architects, was built next to a suburban house owned by the client's family.
The pavilion's structure is guided, on one hand, by the architects' desire to create the lightest and most delicate forms so that the building does not appear heavy despite its size. On the other hand, designers were driven by the intention to hide the interior space from neighbors' eyes; for this purpose, large sheets of satin glass were used. In the direction of the garden and forest, the structure is maximally open.
The pavilion is divided into two parts located on different levels, highlighting changes in the terrain. The upper part, closer to the house, features a large kitchen with a spacious island equipped with a sink and barbecue, as well as a dining area with a light table for 12 people. The lower part includes a living room zone with mobile soft furniture (armchairs-meshes and poufs).
Despite its apparent lightness, the building's design is solid and intended for long-term use. The foundation is pile-type with a cast-iron concrete slab and metal frame with prefabricated slabs. The most complex part of the project was the decorative metal; all intricate joints with glass and additional perimeter lighting were developed together with builders on-site. The walls are made of glass and coated with a matting film. Complex geometric elements are fabricated from painted metal sheets.
In darkness, the structure creates a special impression due to LED lighting around its entire perimeter. Mysteriously glowing among ancient trees, the pavilion looks intriguingly like either a flying saucer or a giant Chinese lantern.
