Country House in Lithuania24 photos
A restrained exterior of weathered wooden planks instills confidence in comfortable protection from cold climate. In contrast, a light and visually warm interior radiates calm and ease. The building is equipped with open verandas on all sides, creating an illusion of expanded space. Thanks to enclosed spaces and large windows, the boundary between the inside and outside world becomes somewhat blurred, allowing residents to cross it with ease.
At first glance, the strict and enclosed house opens its doors and becomes transparent and welcoming. Designers at INBLUM achieved this effect by finding the key to organizing the layout. The passage within the dwelling is organized in axial directions. Sliding doors on these axes do not hinder inhabitants from walking through it from end to end. As you move forward, windows on both sides appear as visual focal points, as if allowing free passage beyond the building's limits.
Inspired by traditional Lithuanian architecture, wood was made the dominant element of the project. All structures are made of wood, including the floor covering of spruce planks and plywood. Against white walls, wooden elements and furniture made from solid spruce become the key accent of the interior, revealing the wooden origin of the house.
