New Approach to Renovating Old Houses on Mallorca

The project was developed based on a contract signed with the city: rent payment for three years through completed work. As a result, 12,000 € of this amount was used to improve energy efficiency (roof insulation and heating) and 6,000 € went towards interior finishing.
To renovate 100 square meters of living space for this budget, the architect followed several principles. First, do nothing — as the best way to do something. Second, internal archaeology — studying how cost-saving construction shaped local cities over many centuries. Third, back to the arch — a method for revealing space without adding new types of materials. Finally, open the door — not the same as building a door.
