House for a Young Family in New Zealand
A 164 square meter house designed by LTD Architectural Design Studio in Pukehina, New Zealand, is tailored for a young family with two children.
Situated on a secluded, bush-covered plot, the building resembles traditional huts common in New Zealand's rural areas. It consists of a single volume housing an open-plan living area and mezzanine with sleeping space. The annex contains service areas and children's bedrooms.
Extensive use of local macrocarpa timber, passive heating and ventilation, and high-efficiency insulation make this a low-impact eco-friendly home. Unprocessed natural materials help seamlessly integrate the structure with its natural surroundings, while corrugated galvanized iron used for the roof enhances its aesthetic appeal.
