Log Cabin Villa on the Coast in Finland

The villa was built in 2017 by the studio Pluspuu Oy on a coastal plot in Turku as a second home for a family from the Finnish capital Helsinki. The building was designed according to the client's wishes and the characteristics of the landscape.

The building meets all necessary energy-saving standards of Finland for standalone structures. Winters in this region can drop to -30 °C. Therefore, the house walls are made of laminated logs with a thickness of 202 millimeters without additional insulation, windows are equipped with triple glazing, and the roof is thermally insulated with a 500-millimeter layer of wood fiber. The dwelling is heated by a geothermal heat pump. In summer, the building is cooled using geothermal energy.

The house overlooks the sea with large windows from ceiling to floor. The sauna offers a particularly picturesque view.

The exterior walls are made of laminated timber consisting of three layers of pine without additional insulation. Wood, as a material with high air permeability, undoubtedly positively affects health. Currently, wood is widely used for building kindergartens and schools in Finland due to its natural health benefits.

Interior surfaces of the house are made from waxed wood and clad with special wooden wall panels. The floors are laid with ceramic tiles. The building features a stylish, smooth metal roof with sound insulation. External window frames are made of painted aluminum.

The villa is built from the highest quality materials and will be passed down from generation to generation.
