Spacious Family Home in Britain
The old water tower in the village of Chivli in Britain has been renovated into a family home for a large family with children. The Old Water Tower project was developed by architects from Gresford Architects firm, and its cost was 350,000 euros. The house is conceived as a new interpretation of the structure of traditional wooden barns in this area. Externally, it looks like a simple agricultural building, but upon closer inspection, its carefully planned modern elements become apparent.
The architects aimed to create an environmentally clean home that would be comfortable and functional for its residents. The latest ventilation and heating systems retain heat and prevent air stagnation. The construction is equipped with triple glazing and large sliding doors with glass panels. External blinds on the eastern and southwest facades automatically open at 21 degrees Celsius, reducing the likelihood of overheating inside the rooms. The first-floor rooms are arranged perpendicular to the entrance axis and parallel to the views from the western side of the house.
All first-floor rooms, except for the storage room and toilet, do not have doors, emphasizing the internal perspective. The second level contains 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
